These stories are to be read aloud. Whether you’re in a conducive environment or not, read them ALOUD even if you must do it “under your breath.” This is not superstitious. There are plenty of sound scientific points along these lines. So, read them aloud and read them as though you were reading them to children. If you try reading it to a group, be sure to use lots of facial expression, voice influctuation, and gesticulation. Put it in your Bible and only hold open your bible as you read.
1 John 4
Test the Spirits
1Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

Romans 10
Faith that comes from HEARING is maintained the same way . . . .
17Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. 18But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did:
“Their voice has gone out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.” 19Again I ask: Did Israel not understand? First, Moses says,
“I will make you envious by those who are not a nation;
I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding.” 20And Isaiah boldly says,
“I was found by those who did not seek me;
I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me.” 21But concerning Israel he says,
“All day long I have held out my hands
to a disobedient and obstinate people.”

HIStory in brief: It was a very, very long time ago, and most of the information is unavailable. Nevertheless, we have enough knowledge to call this story one of the greatest mysteries of all time. Listen as I tell this story the best I can from the little we know.

There are some beings who sometimes look like one of us or they can appear as beings of light. They live in a different world than ours and we don’t know where it is. Some people in our past have actually seen them and talked with them and on rare occasions they have walked with us in our world. That’s why I’m able to tell you this story.

The people who have seen them always agree that they look like young men, rather than women or children, and we don’t know why, but we know they don’t get married and they don’t have kids. They don’t even have physical bodies. They are spirits. These are some of the reasons for the mystery of the story I’m telling.

Even though they came into existence a very, very long time ago, their lives are not counted in days, like ours. They don’t die. They exist in a spirit world into which we cannot presently see. They can see us, but we can only see them when God has a purpose for such.

One of the greatest kings who had ever lived, Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar, became so vain in his heart and mind that he acted like his accomplishments made his kingdom higher than heaven, even above the stars of God. But he didn’t even acknowledge the One, true God who created those stars. He believed in his heart that his kingdom was like a high and mighty counsel where the kings of the world would treat him like a god.

But one night, he had a dream in which one of these spirit beings spoke a verdict over his vain, arrogant attitude. His amazing experience was written down after he woke up so we know what happened. Listen to what the king called this spirit being:

“He was a watcher, a holy looker, and he had come from heaven and spoke to me in a loud voice. He said, ‘King Nebuchadnezzar, we are the guardians over all mankind and we have been sent to you with the highest command and verdict there is to all living people: God is the Highest Ruler with ABSOLUTE power and authority over the entire realm of mankind.

God sent us to you with that message so that all of mankind will realize that God can make whatever judgments He wants over any and all of mankind, whether low, great or mighty, and ALL His judgments will be kept.”

King Nebuchadnezzar did not repent of his pride and suffered God’s judgment for seven seasons. After it was over the king admitted this:

“Everyone on earth is like nothing. God is the Highest Ruler and He does whatever He pleases with the people on earth because he has all the powers of heaven to do it, and no one can hold Him back or even question Him.”

In fact, we’ll learn why the High Mighty Ruler, God, has the authority over us in the next stories to come. You won’t want to miss that. So, these beings are messengers of God to us, and while we call them “angels” that word simply means “messenger, watcher” or “guardian.”

Besides being guardians, watchers or messengers, we know these angels are holy. But not all of them are! There are some bad ones too. These stories will help us identify them and what it is they are doing. Most angels, however, are holy servants meant to serve God, and . . . even members of the human race! But for now I want us to know that the only reason these servants exist is . . . because God loves us.

There are myriads of these angels, and there are different kinds of them too. These stories will reveal how we receive that gift and service. God’s word says,

The ones who live in God’s sheltering word will be able to rest in God’s shadow, because He will order His angels to take care of all of our ways.

“If you love me,” He says, “I will rescue and protect you because you have accepted my authority over you. Then if you call me for help, I will be with you in your time of trouble and deliver you and honor you with my salvation.”

God’s word names only two of these angels. They are Michael and Gabriel. Michael is the Arch Angel and just “one of the chief princes,” so there must be other chiefs. He has been assigned to protect God’s chosen people and has been known as a fighter against the evil they faced. These stories will enable us to know how to become one of God’s chosen people to receive God’s special angelic protection.

You will want to watch and listen very carefully for Gabriel who will make appearances later with special messages of insight and instructions to the people we will meet in our stories.

Would you like to know how these special beings came to be? [Yes!] Then listen to what God’s word says about them:

“Let the angels praise the name of the LORD and do as He says, because he ordered them and created them for this purpose. He put them in their appointed place for ever and ever; He gave them a command that will never pass away: ‘Praise Him, all you angels, praise Him, all His heavenly hosts.'”

We see that they had a beginning, just like us and we can see by what God’s word says that He expects them to praise and honor Him just the same as He expects of us. Since they live with God in His spirit world, do you think all angels have kept His commandments perfectly? Do we keep them in our earthly world?

Think about it for a minute. Do we have a choice to obey or disobey God? One thing we know for sure about these spirit beings is that they were created perfect. Those who sinned did so because they coveted something that didn’t belong to them. When we know what is right and we refuse to do it, God’s word says it is a sin against Him. What about the angels? I already gave you a little hint by telling you that there are some bad angels. We actually call them evil spirits. So, we know that the angels had freedom of choice just like we have as neither of us were created like robots who had to serve God whether we wanted to or not. We may serve God or reject Him, and our future stories will tell us a lot more about this.

Before I tell you about Satan and his evil spirits sit back and listen to the most extraordinary thing the angels got to see. All of them were ready and they watched God create the entire universe. They gaped in awe at His work. They watched in particular at the most unique of His works. They saw Him lay the earth’s foundation as He marked off its dimensions. He stretched His measuring line across the earth and set its footings and laid it’s cornerstone. He caused the oceans to be shut up within, and clouds to form and waves to halt at lands end. He ordered the morning and all the angels sang and shouted for joy when they saw His handiwork.

There was one angel in particular, however, who noticed all of this with covetous eyes, and wanted it for himself more than anything else. I’m speaking now of Satan. It’s easier to tell you what we know about him, because it’s so little, than to repeat all the many beliefs people mistakenly have about him. For example, I can assure you he is neither red nor wears a red suit sporting a barbed tail holding a pitch-fork (trident). And he does not make us do anything. God’s word says he will flee from us if we resist him.

Remember, he is a spirit being without a body but he rules this physical world because God gave that to him and he walks back and forth within it. He coveted the earth for his own pleasures which he desired more than God’s perfection in which he was created. Remember that God had appointed the angels their place for ever and ever and they were to praise Him. Satan wanted more than that. Therefore, absolute title of the earth had been given to him and he was thrown out of heaven. Along with title of the earth, however, went the preordained verdict against the earth, for it could not, and it will not last forever. Perhaps Satan never really considered the fact that only God’s holiness is eternal past, present and future and lives forever. God’s word even says that the world and its desires pass away, but the man who does God’s will lives forever. Many stories in the coming days will show some wonderful things to consider.

Satan therefore rebelled against God because he wanted to enjoy the physical world but still live in God’s spiritual habitation to which he had been assigned. Obviously, he hated God’s very high spiritual assignment and turned a bunch of angels against God with him, because he couldn’t have both worlds. He believes man who is born of the dust of the ground will follow his earthly ways. But those who are willing to accept God’s spiritual perfection, the way He enables us to obtain it, which Satan didn’t want, He gives one of His good angels to watch over all of us and serve all of our ways. So, if we covet anything that doesn’t belong to us, and we lie, steal, kill or destroy to obtain any of those things, we have already become Satan’s own evil agents in this physical world. Our sins against God in spirit, take physical form in this world in which we live. We become Satan’s children and followers. He is our spiritual head, lead and father.

The world is passing away. It cannot last forever. The temporary physical, earthly things look attractive, and are necessary for our physical lives, but God’s word says the universe and everything that’s in it will all go up in a vapor of smoke one certain day. More about that in future stories.

There is a lot of speculation and even wild stories about Satan. We must examine God’s word for details of this important subject and then resolve not to go beyond, like Satan did, what God has revealed in His word. But we can logically deduce one thing for sure: Vanity or pride filled Satan’s heart and this angel who had led other angels in praise to God all became victims of their own covetous sins.

So, in this way Satan rebelled against the creator and a lot of other angels followed him in his rebellion. God knew exactly what this angel was thinking and planning. He knew all about the other spirits who were joining him in their rebellion too. Michael the Arch angel threw them all out of heaven. Therefore Satan lost his place in heaven forever. God, who is totally holy, cannot tolerate sin. So, he judged this angel and all his followers by preparing the Lake of Fire as a place of eternal judgment for these spirits. But those angel spirits who didn’t follow Satan have since their creation until today, continued to worship and glorify God, and serve Him joyfully in many capacities.

Let me tell you about some people who found out about God’s angels in an amazing way. God’s Word tells us about the king of Aram who was at war with God’s chosen people. He made various plans for attacking God’s people, but every time they had been forewarned about what the king was going to do. This made the king very angry. He called all his officers together and asked them:

“Who is betraying me? Which one of you is telling the enemy about my battle plans?”

One of his men spoke up saying,

“O King, God’s people have a prophet named, Elisha. He tells their king the very words that you utter in your bedroom!”

The king ordered his men to find the prophet Elisha. He determined to kill him. The soldiers came back with the report that the prophet Elisha lived in the town of Dothan, so the king sent a large number of soldiers with their horses and chariots to go to Dothan at night and surround the city, ready for an attack the following morning.

As usual, Elisha’s servant got up early the next morning to do his chores. When he went outside he was terrified to see that the city was in trouble! The enemy army with their horses and chariots were entirely around the city. He ran back inside.

“Elisha! What shall we do!”

“Don’t be afraid. Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

The servant looked at Elisha, and then slowly to himself and said,

“With all respect, My Master, except for the danger, you should step outside and have a look for yourself!”

Then Elisha prayed.

“God, please open my servant’s eyes so that he can see what is really there.”

So, God did just that. He opened the servant’s eyes so that he could see into the spirit world, and there, on the hills around them, which had appeared bare before, were thousands of horses, fiery chariots and angel fighters. They surrounded everyone of the king’s men, and there were even angel guards all around Elisha’s house protecting them.

Because we cannot see into the spirit realm, we don’t imagine that God’s angels are there, but they are! They still worship, glorify and praise God. They are doing many things as God’s servants in whatever way He desires. You will hear more about God’s angels in the coming stories. Yes, Satan and his demons still exist. You might ask yourself, “Is it possible that Satan will just sit quietly? Or will we see more of him in our future stories?”

Before we end this story, we all know that there is a part of us which is spirit too. We are spirit beings housed within our bodies because God’s word says that when we die our spirits go back to Him who gave them. Our own spirits, however, cannot be five sensed (smelled, touched, tasted, seen or heard), in any way. Did you know that in the past some scientists laid dying patients on beds which were very, very sensitive scales? There was no difference in weight the moment those people’s spirits passed on and the moment before death. The spirit is unseen, but we all have spirits. The second our spirits leave our bodies we look the same, we have the same internal organs, the same brain, but we are without life.

Look at it this way; Have you notice that I have a body? I have noticed yours. We can each five sense the other’s body, can’t we? But neither of us can five sense the other’s brain, can we? In spite of that, our brains communicate with each other just as we are doing now. But our spirits have limited connection both to each other and ourselves. None of us can five sense our own spirits, yet they are in our bodies or we are instantly dead.

Did you know that God’s word tells us that His word is sharp as a two edged sword that can divide between soul and spirit. Wow! Can you imagine that! We accept this by faith, as we do not understand all of it, just as we do not see each other’s spirits. But we shall learn a lot more about these things in all the future stories we shall hear. Don’t miss them!

There is another “angel” who is not a created angel. God’s word talks about “the angel of Jehovah” or “the angel of God,” but the difference is that He is “THE angel of God.” We will be watching for him to make his appearances in these stories as he fills a very exciting and critical role before we come to know who he is.

1. Does Satan have power over man kind?
(No! He does not. God has ABSOLUTE power over all mankind.)
2. Does God own the earth?
(Yes! He does, but Satan has coveted rule over it which is only temporary. Satan fights God for agents both to destroy God’s work and who will inherit the Lake of Fire God has made for Satan and his angels. Satan walks upon it where ever he goes and it’s all going to be destroyed one day certain and Satan will inherit nothing.)
3. When were the angels created?
(We don’t know exactly, but they were created before the heavens and the earth and before man, because they watched Him make all these things. They sang and shouted for glory!)
4. What different character attributes of God did we see in this story?
(⧫ God is all powerful.God is eternal.God knows everything.God is spirit. God is everywhere at one time.God doesn’t depend on anything; he is self-dependent. Whether you saw all of those elements or not, listen to the rest of the stories and see if you can pick up on all these attributes.)
5. Before God created the earth, who did He create?
(He created the angels, spirit beings who were created to serve and worship God.)

(No, because God is over all the creatures He created. He will never give His authority to another.)
8. When Satan planned his rebellion, did God know about it?
(God knew what he was planning and everything he was doing. God knows everything.)
9. When Satan and his followers rebelled against God, what did God do?
(He removed Satan and all his followers from their positions of serving him in heaven and he prepared the Lake of Fire for them, a place of eternal judgment.)
10. What does this show us about God’s authority?
(It shows us that God is the ruler of all. He rules over Satan and all his evil spirits.)

13. How important, really, is the spirit world to we who live in a physical world?
(Since we all die, and since our spirits go back to Him who gave them (Ecclesiastes 12:7), it is very important as the spirit has to have some dwelling place. It will either be with God or in hell which He prepared for Satan, his angels, and those who follow according to his ways.)
14. Who is “The Angel of the Lord?”
(We will just have to wait until that is revealed to us in the stories!)
15. Is “The Angel of the Lord” a created spirit being?
